Prof. Sangwon Hwang has joined an NRF Basic Research Laboratory (BRL) project on AI-based adaptive underwater optical communication receivers, selected for support from July 2026 to June 2029.

The project is led by Prof. Wanyoung Chung at Pukyong National University and aims to develop ultra-sensitive, high-speed dual-mode receiver technologies for reliable underwater optical communication.
